A big crackdown on fraudulent claims

    Thame Driving Blog

About 2 years ago I was approached by several customers about information that we know as "motor industry experts" but is unknown to the wider public.

I thought that knowing what to do to pass your MOT or how to claim money back if you hit a pothole was easy information to find. Apparently not, and anayway when it comes to cars and motoring, what I have found is that there is alot of guff and untruths out there. The feeling I got was that people want to listen to people that they trust.

So....I started writing articles about useful motoring information, amusing tales and local information. I now send this out to over 2,000 people on a monthly basis along with other motor related emails and generally get really good feedback. In fact what happens now is that my readers are now telling me what to write about.

I hope you enjoy the articles and if there is a particular topic you want to know about then please let me know.

You know it’s properly summer time when people begin saying ‘ooh, it’s too hot for me…’

An emergence of impossible-to-please people isn’t the only irritating thing that let’s us know it’s summer.

Stories of melting roads, buckling rail lines and travel chaos are par for the course when the thermometer rises.

It must be making people’s minds melt a little as well, as we’ve been hearing reports of ridiculous driving behaviour on the Oxford Road roundabout, just up the road from Thame Cars HQ.

Apparently there has been a spate of morally dubious driver braking suddenly in the middle of the road, causing drivers behind to go into the rear.

Of course, in the eyes of the law it’s the responsibility of the car behind to ensure that there’s a safe stopping distance between you and car in front.

But when people act radically differently to expected, it’s easy to see how you could be caught out by this stunt.

Unless you have a dash cam that can prove reckless driving, you don’t have a leg to stand on.

And it’ll be an embarrassing call to your insurance company to pay for the damage and ‘whiplash’ sustained by the occupants of the protagonist.

It’s exactly this kind of reckless behaviour that was highlighted in the Queen’s Speech last week.

There is to be a big crackdown on fraudulent claims, with companies specialising in these ambulance chasing tactics being more heavily regulated.

    And quite right too.

The frustrating thing is that you can be the most careful & law abiding driver on the planet, but you can’t completely protect yourself from otherpeople’s driving.

One other thing we have noticed in this hot weather is the number of people coming into us with their cars overheating.

It’s not just you that has to hydrate more in the hot weather, as it’s essential you keep your car’s fluid levels topped up.

If you want one of our guys to give you car a Health Check to make sure you’re ready for the next spell of hot weather, drop us a line and we’ll get you booked in.

It doesn’t cost you anything as it’s a service we provide for all our customers and contacts, and if it transpires that there iswork that urgently needs doing, we’ll run everything passed you first.

To book a complimentary Summer Vehicle Health Check, call us on 01844 390 560.

I hope you haven’t personally been affected by the Oxford Road roundabout scam, and manage to bite your tongue when people tell you how ‘the garden needed a bit of rain’.

    Happy driving!
