You know it’s properly summer time when people begin saying ‘ooh, it’s too hot for me…’
An emergence of impossible-to-please people isn’t the only irritating thing that let’s us know it’s summer.
Stories of melting roads, buckling rail lines and travel chaos are par for the course when the thermometer rises.
It must be making people’s minds melt a little as well, as we’ve been hearing reports of ridiculous driving behaviour on the Oxford Road roundabout, just up the road from Thame Cars HQ.
Apparently there has been a spate of morally dubious driver braking suddenly in the middle of the road, causing drivers behind to go into the rear.
Of course, in the eyes of the law it’s the responsibility of the car behind to ensure that there’s a safe stopping distance between you and car in front.
But when people act radically differently to expected, it’s easy to see how you could be caught out by this stunt.
Unless you have a dash cam that can prove reckless driving, you don’t have a leg to stand on.
And it’ll be an embarrassing call to your insurance company to pay for the damage and ‘whiplash’ sustained by the occupants of the protagonist.
It’s exactly this kind of reckless behaviour that was highlighted in the Queen’s Speech last week.
There is to be a big crackdown on fraudulent claims, with companies specialising in these ambulance chasing tactics being more heavily regulated.
And quite right too.
The frustrating thing is that you can be the most careful & law abiding driver on the planet, but you can’t completely protect yourself from otherpeople’s driving.
One other thing we have noticed in this hot weather is the number of people coming into us with their cars overheating.
